Syrie Maugham

Born in 1879 in an English wealthy family, Syrie Maugham, wife of the playwriter Somerset Maugham, becomes a designer as soon as 1910 and remains one of the few women of the progression during the 1930s. Maugham is famous for her “all-white” interiors, in which white color modernizes and unifies interiors still marked by ecclectism from XIXth century. Plays of light and materials match with the furniture staged by Maugham.
