Jean Lurçat (1892-1966) for Myrbor
Regarded as being at the origin of the rebirth of XXth century tapestry, Jean Lurçat was a multidisciplinary artist. Painter, ceramist and tapestry creator, he dedicated more than thirty years of his life to this last medium. He collaborated with Marie Cuttoli, tapestry editor of Myrbor brand, but also with Gobelins and Beauvais manufactures. His abstract and vibrant compositions gave a new life into the art of tapestry elevating it to a high-status amongst the XXth century decorative arts.
