Meant to be an architect, Henri Simmen finally decided to work with ceramic following his apprenticeship at Edmond Lachenal. Fascinated by Asian ceramics and a great traveler, Simmen went regularly in China and Japan to learn and observe their savoir-faire. This is where he met his wife Eugénie O’Kin, who helped him to create ivory lid for his ceramics. The curves of his pieces and their delicateness demonstrate the influence of the Orient.
